Hagakure Reflection

「ほとんどの者は、称号を求めるのであって、試練を求めない。」
Most people want the title, not the trials.

In today’s world, ignorance often takes the lead.
Many believe they know everything, dismissing the wisdom of those who came before them.

“That old man doesn’t know what he’s talking about,” they say—never realizing that true wisdom is forged in experience: in trials and triumphs, in love and loss, in the humility of admitting ignorance and seeking truth.

Few are willing to commit to the long, grueling hours that success demands.
They envy the victories of others without understanding the sacrifices behind them.
They chase quick rewards that keep them comfortable, forgetting that what comes quickly can vanish just as fast.

And then there is the flock mentality—safety in numbers, safety in silence.
People follow the crowd’s opinions to avoid friction, to be liked, to belong.
But if your beliefs, values, and morals are shaped only by what’s popular or what your friends think,
can you truly claim to be your own person?

Being “worthy” is not about meeting the expectations of the masses.
It is about standing apart, speaking your truth, and remaining yourself—even when it’s uncomfortable.

Only then can a person truly be called worthy.
